2012 calendar of local events
While the dates of the events below are confirmed some of the details of the events have yet to be finalised so keep an eye on the links listed for updates on event planning.  Some annual events, for example, the Beast of the East triathlon (July) and the Epic Blast (September) are not yet included but will be added as soon as details are available - 3rd January 2012. 

Sunday, 8th April 2012: Gravity Enduro, Djouce Woods
The inaugural Gravity Enduro Series, which combines the fitness of cross country riding with the techniques of downhill racing, will be held in 2012 in various locations across Ireland.  The first of five events in the series will take place at Djouce Woods in Wicklow on Sunday, 8th April at 9.00am.  Further information on the event and how to register can be found at www.gravityenduro.ie   A further event in the series will be held in Wicklow in September (see below).  Bike storage is available at The Skylark’s Rest.  

Saturday, 14th April 2012: Wicklow Adventure Race (WAR) Glendalough
A great favourite in the adventure race calendar, WAR Glendalough is back again for 2012.  Combining the disciplines of running, cycling and kayaking around some fabulous scenery including Glendalough, Lough Dan, the Sally Gap and Djouce mountain.  More details about this challenging event are available on www.wicklowadventurerace.com 

Sunday, 10th June 2012: Wicklow 200
The Wicklow 200 is a non-competitive cycle ride covering 200km around the roads of Wicklow county.  The route includes a number of challenging climbs and passes through some fabulously scenic areas.  The event is open to all cyclists and has previously included participants from 12 to 80 years of age.  The shorter Wicklow Challenge (100km) also takes place on 10th June and shares most of its route with the Wicklow 200.  Information on routes and how to enter is available on www.wicklow200.ie


Saturday, 28th July 2012: Wicklow Adventure Race (WAR) Glenmalure 
The second of three Wicklow Adventure Races being organised this year, WAR Glenmalure will take place in the stunning surrounds of the Glenmalure Valley.  This WAR is a treat for cycling enthusiasts combining two of the most iconic cycles in Wicklow; Shay Elliott and Slieve Mann.  Croaghanmoira and Kirikee mountains will feature in the runs and a muddy obstacle course is also included.  More information on the route and race details is available at Wicklow Adventure Race

Sunday, 9th September 2012: Gravity Enduro 
The last of five events in the inaugural Gravity Enduro Series will be located in Wicklow.  Further information of the event and how to register can be found at here.   Bike storage is available at The Skylark’s Rest.

Saturday, 22nd September 2012: Wicklow Adventure Race (WAR) Powerscourt
The third and final WAR for 2012 will start and finish in the Powerscourt Estate.  The route will take in the Sally Gap, Djouce mountain as well as a kayak on the Vartry Lakes in Roundwood.  More information on this event can be found at Wicklow Adventure Race


Friday, 26th - Monday 29th October 2012: Footfalls Walking Festival 
A highlight in the annual walking calendar, the Footfalls Walking Festival is back again for 2012 and promises an excellent programme of both day time and evening walks followed by plenty of craic in the evenings.   As the details of this year's festival are finalised they will be available at Footfalls Walking Festival
